| If you get stuck when trying to do something in Word, don't panic. Help is always available.
Read through the steps below to familiarize yourself with how to get help before starting the hands-on activity.
The simplest way to get help is to:
- Click on the Help menu at the top of the screen

| Click on the Index tab when the dialog box opens, and type in the word or phrase. In this case, type in "tabs" then chose the "default stops" item.

- Click on Show Topics or Display. If Word gives you more sup-topics to choose from, click on any item and click on Go To.
- Another dialog box opens with help on your topic.

With later versions of Word, clicking the question mark balloon near the top of the screen will summon help from the Word Assistant. The Assistant will try to offer advice specific to the task you're performing.
If the help offered isn't appropriate, the Assistant will allow you to type in your own question or key word. You can also change the way the Assistant looks and works by clicking on the assistant and selection Options.
Oops!
You can always hit Undo if you make an unwanted change to your document. Click on the Undo button repeatedly to step backwards through the last several changes you have made. If you go back too far, you can always replace your changes with the Redo button.
